Hello everyone! This is Manny Calavera from the Vintage Cuties blog. This post is going to be a little different from some of the other written articles posted here on occasion, those being about rare discoveries and such. The rare discoveries I make are usually instances in which Rob or I come across some random auction. They also are the result of winning private auctions for vintage erotic films, photos and magazines. Unfortunately, you can’t win them all and I have had my fair share of lost auctions. This happens more often than one would like to have to admit, but you have to pick your battles.
During the same time frame in which I acquired those two films featuring Becky McFarlane (still a big deal for me), I lost two other auctions because it would have broken the bank. One of those films (one I had never seen before) featured Candy Earle while the other one was a Georgia Holden burlesque film. That was a hard loss to handle, but you have to think to yourself that there will be others out there. With all of that being said, I hope you enjoy this first post in my series called ‘One That Got Away.’
Here is a film I failed to obtain simply because the auction completely passed me by. It is known as “A Personal Film Club Preview” and it features a few familiar face I have seen every now and then. There are a couple of faces I cannot identify, so perhaps someone who reads and sees the photos in this post can help me in this area. This reel is basically a sample reel containing short clips of other full feature stag films.
This first still captured is of a stag of Cherry Knight who did burlesque dancing, posed semi-nude and fully nude in stag films. This clip of Cherry shows her dancing burlesque with only a pair of black panties and pasties covering her nipples as she bounces her breasts about. I already own this film as a digital file, so this wasn’t a huge loss. However, the next clip is a different story.
As you can see, this next clip features the lust and busty Donna Brown. In this film Ms. Brown completely nude, though you can only see her topless here. From the look of the her surroundings it appears that she is being filmed at the estate of the Spider Pool. It really would have been nice to figure out which Donna Brown film this clip was pulled from.
This particular clip is lost on me, as I have never seen this model before. Like the Cherry Knight clip, this lady is topless with only pasties to cover her nipples. If anyone knows who this is, please let me know.
We’re starting to get warmer here. This is a clip of one of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen – Becky McFarlane. In this clip she is posing on all fours while looking wide-eyed into the camera. As is seen here, she is wearing black pasties over her nipples and seems to be wearing light-colored or white panties. It’s hard to make out the shape of said pasties. If they are butterfly shaped then it is of a film I already have of her called “Hollywood Honeys.” However, I’m not exactly sure if it is in fact the same footage.
This clip, on the other hand, is completely different. In this clip, Becky McFarlane is wearing a different pair of pasties on her nipples. They are smaller, pointier and shaped like the star of David. These things are barley able to cover up Becky’s areolas. Judging from the exteriors and the lighting, it appears that Becky is outside. I wish I could get my hands on this clip because I’ve never seen this film before.
This last clip is a mystery, as I have no idea what on Earth is happening. It looks like these two scantily clad girls are wrestling. Unfortunately, I have now idea who these two ladies are. The image is a little too blurry to tell and one of the gals has her face turned away from the camera in this still.
This little sampler reel is an interesting oddity and it’s hard to pinpoint when it was made. I can only assume that this was a freebie film sent out to anyone who sent a mail order for 8mm or 16mm nudie films from a magazine ad and listing. Back in the day, models and studios specializing in erotic film would advertize and sell their films through glamour, nudie and pulp magazines in order to get around laws against mail blatantly containing obscenity. If it was discreetly sent through the mail, photographers and models could get away with being more risque. You can see this difference in certain stag films where models actually allow there pubic hair (and sometimes, vulva) to be photographed. These boundaries ultimately were pushed beyond into acceptance by federal law, but regulations regarding erotica were a far more rigid during the 40’s and 50’s. This is an interesting relic of the past and I do lament missing out on this piece. Hopefully, this film found a good home.
